What is it — and what’s modular about it
The Selekt DSM is a network music player + pre-amplifier (or integrated amplifier) “hub” rather than a fixed, single-function component.
Instead of a set spec, it’s modular: you build it to your needs by selecting which “cartridges” to install — for example line-outs, DAC modules, amplifier modules or surround/HDMI modules.
That means you can start with a basic configuration (just a streamer/pre-amp) and later expand or upgrade it (e.g. add internal amplification, surround-sound modules, or higher-end DACs). This enables your stereo system to grow and improve to suit your needs and budget. And without the complexity and money loss of trading or selling on your old kit.
🎛️ Core features (in a typical setup)
Selekt handles both digital and analogue sources — from streaming services, network storage, or internet radio to vinyl via an integrated MM/MC phono stage. It has digital inputs and it has HDMI so you can integrated your television and associated components. It also supports a wide variety of digital formats (FLAC, WAV, DSD, etc.), up to very high resolution.
And as hinted at; connectivity is superb - multiple digital inputs (USB, HDMI-ARC, optical/coaxial, network, Bluetooth/WiFi) and analogue inputs; plus analog outputs (line-out or power amp depending on configuration).
Control is provided by a tactile central dial and programmable “smart” buttons for quick access to favourite playlists/sources; great for daily use without needing a smartphone or computer. Further two way access and control is provided by the Linn app for your smart device.
Selekt also has in-built DSP-based features such as room/space correction (Space Optimisation) to optimise sound for your listening environment. This is straightforward to set up and use and can compensate for difficult or minimally decorated rooms. We've found it exceptionally useful in environments using a lot of tiles, glass and hard wood floors and particularly in open-plan environment. It can be experimented with and easily applied or taken off if the room changes.

The strength of Selekt lies in its modular cartridge & module system. You choose what you fit depending on your needs.
Examples:
Line-out cartridges — for stereo output to external amplifier or pre-amp. Mono or stereo versions available.
Power-amp cartridges — for turning the Selekt DSM into an all-in-one system: streamer, pre-amp and amplifier in one box.
DAC modules — you can choose the DAC flavour/quality level: standard, high-performance (Katalyst DAC), or reference-level (Organik DAC). Upgrading the DAC module later is supported.
Surround / HDMI / Hybrid modules — for those wanting multi-channel / home-cinema or extra inputs
Because you can mix & match — you only install what you need (and nothing more). If your needs change, you can swap cartridges via a dealer (the unit must be powered off).
